M I K E  C H A S E

Between 1981 and 1996 Mike trained in Italy with Sartori, in England with John Wright and Bali with Ida Bagus Alit  including many others along the way.

He taught and directed physical theatre, mime and mask at Arts Educational Drama Department for ten years and has acted with The Unfortunati, Trestle Theatre Company and The Rose Theatre Company. 

The Mask Studio was established in the mid 90’s and developed masks for training, education, performance and therapy where Mike taught in these fields internationally for 25 years.

He is currently the Artistic Director of Mike Chase Masks and works as a psychodrama psychotherapist in a therapeutic community prison HMP Grendon.

Mike Chase Masks is comprised of three main areas of activity:
Mask Making - creating masks for clients internationally.
Mask Workshops - courses in mask making and using
Mask Productions - mask performance and directing.

Our masks are used by Universities, Colleges, Theatres and theatre companies internationally. Alongside theatre work, Mike has been developing the therapeutic application of mask over the past 20 years making masks for education and self development.

Michael was the Festival Director of the

International Mask Festival Stourbridge 2007.

In 1996 John Wright described Michael in Total Theatre as

​“One of the most accomplished mask makers in the UK, who's

research into the diversity of mask use is second to none."
